Rainy April Washington DC Spring, the DOE, and the Better Buildings Summit

Scanalytics team members were in Washington, DC in April 2024 meeting with sustainability leaders inside and outside government and attending the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Summit.

This conference is an annual event to provide the opportunity for professionals to explore emerging technologies and share innovative strategies in energy efficiency, decarbonization, water, and waste reduction.

Takeaways

Packed and sold-out

Standing room only and sold out weeks before the event!

Smart, energized DOE leadership

Deputy Secretary David Turk opened the show with inspiring remarks and humor. There were committed government officials at all events and workshops.

All hands on deck with serious KPI goals and progress

Intersection of committed business leaders, municipalities, universities, tech innovators (like yours truly) were all there to commit to serious changes with a measured time commitment, 2030 and 2050 for goals.

Ongoing commitments and conversations

With business commitments from leaders like Paramount Pictures, the conference was a part of a larger collaborative effort. Some businesses were taking a more aggressive approach including Paramount and those on this list. All US-based businesses will be led down this path with federal and national compliance standards that will be enforced. Either by law or by commitment to a prosperous and sustainable future, all will eventually be invited to adherence to this climate party. It was inspiring to see those who are showing up first.
